Overview
Martin 0-18 (1944)
Condition
Structurally sound. Finish is original and shows decades of natural heavy wear. Action is low and very playable with great tuning stability. No apparent breaks or major repairs. Bridge has been replaced.
Sound
Extremely warm and mid-focused. Quite loud for its size - a fantastic blues or singer-songwriter travel guitar. The 24 3/4" short scale neck provides a unique sound with less tension and a quick, clear response.
History
Built during Martin's war years, this tiny six-string proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that vintage instruments simply have an X factor modern ones can't compete with. Adirondack red spruce on top and mahogany on the back and sides give the 0-18 a much bigger voice than its size might suggest, aided by careful craftsmanship and the masterful luthiery synonymous with Martin's work through the first half of the 20th century.
