Sound

The G&L MFD (Magnetic Field Design) pickups, pioneered by Leo Fender, feature a wider, more powerful magnetic field using a ceramic bar magnet and adjustable pole pieces. This design delivers higher output, richer harmonics, and a broader frequency response, allowing greater control over individual string balance compared to traditional Alnico pickups. The result is a full, articulate tone with a strong attack, warm lows, and sparkling highs - maintaining clarity even under high gain.

The 1990s G&L S-500 Tribute models were part of a rare Japanese domestic market (MIJ) series, renowned for their use of high-quality USA parts and exceptional craftsmanship. Featuring an alder or swamp ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, three MFD single-coil pickups, Dual-Fulcrum vibrato bridge, and an expander switch for additional pickup combinations, these instruments are celebrated for their playability and tonal range.
