About Musos Corner

Musos Corner is Australia's #1 independent music store. From first-time strummers to touring pros, we've been kitting out musicians with guitars, drums, keys, recording gear, DJ rigs and lighting for decades. Our Charlestown store is the heart of the Newcastle music community — a place where players come to hang, try gear, learn, and find their next instrument.

We're looking for someone who lives and breathes music (and content) to help us bring that energy to our socials every day.

The Role

You'll be on the shop floor three days a week capturing the gear, the people, and the moments that make Musos Corner what it is — then turning that raw material into consistent, on-brand content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Reels. This isn't a desk job. You'll be filming a guitarist demoing a new Fender one minute, planning next month's content calendar the next.

The goal is simple: build community, drive engagement, and make Musos Corner the music store people want to follow even if they're not buying today.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Capturing in-store content — short-form video, photos, demos, behind-the-scenes, customer moments, new arrivals, staff picks. Phone-first, fast, and authentic.
  • Building repeatable campaign formats — weekly series, recurring segments, and content pillars that we can run again and again (think "New Arrival Friday," "Staff Pick of the Week," "Riff of the Day," gear showdowns, beginner tips, etc.).
  • Planning and scheduling a rolling content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Editing video and photos to a consistent, polished look — captions, hooks, trending audio, the lot.
  • Supporting in-store events, clinics, artist visits and lessons with content coverage and pre/post promo.
  • Reporting on what's working — engagement, reach, follower growth — and using that to sharpen the next month's plan.
  • Collaborating with the wider team — store staff, education department, and brand reps — to surface stories worth telling.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine love of music and gear — you don't need to be a virtuoso, but you should be comfortable around instruments and able to talk to musicians on their level.
  • Proven experience running social media for a brand, business, artist, or your own channel with real engagement to show for it.
  • Strong eye for short-form video — comfortable shooting, editing, and publishing on your phone (CapCut, Premiere, Lightroom, or similar).
  • Understanding of what makes content perform on Instagram and TikTok in 2026 — hooks, pacing, audio, trends.
  • Self-starter who can plan ahead, work to a calendar, and pitch new ideas.
  • Friendly, professional, and happy being on the shop floor talking to customers and staff.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Figma, Photoshop).

Nice to Have

  • Experience playing an instrument or working in the music industry.
  • Photography background.
  • Existing knowledge of brands we stock — Fender, Gibson, Roland, Yamaha, Maton, Pioneer DJ, and more.
