Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course: Lesson Book 1

Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course: Lesson Book 1 is a beginner piano method created for adult students who prefer a chord-based approach to learning. The course introduces chords in both hands, allowing students to progress beyond single-note melodies while developing essential keyboard and music-reading skills.

Written by Willard A. Palmer, Morton Manus and Amanda Vick Lethco, the book combines progressive instruction with familiar songs and melodies, making it well suited to adult beginners studying with a teacher or experienced musician.

Chord-Based Adult Piano Method

The course teaches students to understand and play chords with both hands rather than relying only on single-note melodies. Lessons progress gradually, helping build coordination, reading skills and confidence at the keyboard.

Familiar Songs and Progressive Lessons

The book includes a broad selection of well-known pieces and traditional melodies, including Amazing Grace, Greensleeves, Ode to Joy, The Entertainer, Scarborough Fair and When the Saints Go Marching In.
