Gruv Gear Fump Bridge-Side Bass String Dampener – Black

The Gruv Gear Fump is a bridge-side string dampener designed for four- and five-string electric bass guitars. It slides over the strings near the bridge to produce a short, muted note decay reminiscent of classic palm-muted and vintage bass tones—without requiring the player to keep their picking hand against the strings.

Vintage-Inspired Muted Bass Tone

The Fump reduces string sustain to create a warm, punchy and staccato response. It offers an alternative to placing loose foam beneath the strings, making it convenient for bass parts that call for a tighter, more controlled sound.

Quick Bridge-Side Installation

The dampener slides over the strings between the bridge pickup and bridge. It can be inserted from above or below the strings and removed quickly when a full-sustain sound is needed.

The Fump requires approximately 1 inch (2.5cm) of clearance between the pickup and bridge and works best on basses with little or no string radius.

Portable, No-Moving-Parts Design

The Fump has no moving parts and features replaceable muting material. When not in use, it can be clipped onto a strap or music stand to keep it within reach.

Please Note: Check the space between your bass’s bridge pickup and bridge before purchasing. The Fump works best on instruments with little or no string radius.
