The Gibson 490R Modern Classic is a neck-position humbucker designed with the tonal character of Gibson’s original Patent Applied For pickups. Its Alnico 2 magnet produces warm lows, clear highs and a slightly enhanced upper-midrange response.
Versatile Four-Conductor Design
Four-conductor wiring supports series, parallel and coil-split configurations when installed with compatible switching. Wax potting reduces unwanted microphonic feedback at higher volume levels, while the gold cover delivers a premium vintage-inspired appearance.
