JHS 424 Gain Stage Preamp and Distortion Pedal
The JHS 424 Gain Stage recreates the distinctive preamp sound of the vintage Tascam Portastudio 424 MKI. It delivers a wide range of tones, from clean, lo-fi character to saturated overdrive and fuzz, making it suitable for guitar recording, live performance and creative sound shaping.
Vintage Multitrack Recorder Tone
The pedal recreates the original Portastudio signal path using UPC4570 and NJM4565 op-amps. Volume, Gain 1 and Gain 2 controls provide flexible gain staging, while Bass and Treble controls allow further tone adjustment.
Flexible Recording and Live Connections
A standard 1/4-inch output and balanced XLR DI output allow connection to amplifiers, mixers and audio interfaces. Both outputs can operate simultaneously, while a ground-lift switch helps reduce unwanted hum through the XLR connection.
Please Note: Use a regulated 9V DC centre-negative power supply. Do not exceed 9V.
