Katoh MCG80S Classical Guitar

The Katoh MCG80S is a full-size classical guitar from Katoh’s Advanced Series, combining a solid European spruce soundboard with Indian rosewood back and sides. Katoh positions the MCG80S as an option for serious students and aspiring professional players, pairing traditional classical construction with quality tonewoods and practical modern features.

Its mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and Spanish neck joint provide a traditional classical foundation, while Spanish fan bracing supports the soundboard. A 650mm scale length, 52mm nut width, bone nut and saddle, Savarez strings and Katoh gold tuning machines complete the instrument.

Solid European Spruce Soundboard

Katoh specifies a solid European spruce top for the MCG80S. Spruce is valued in classical guitars for its clear response and dynamic projection, making this model well suited to developing players who need an instrument capable of responding to increasingly refined technique.

Indian Rosewood Back and Sides

The spruce soundboard is paired with Indian rosewood back and sides, along with Indian rosewood binding and bridge. Maple and ebony purfling around the top, with maple purfling on the back and sides, adds understated decorative detail to the high-gloss instrument.

Traditional Classical Construction

The MCG80S features a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and Spanish neck joint, complemented by traditional Spanish fan bracing. The neck joins the body at the 12th fret, with 20 frets in total, retaining the familiar proportions of a full-size classical guitar.

Full-Size Classical Playability

A 650mm (25.6") scale length and 52mm (2.04") nut width provide traditional classical-guitar spacing. Mother-of-Pearl markers are positioned at the 5th, 7th and 9th frets, while a two-way adjustable truss rod provides additional neck adjustment capability.
