Pearl PBEDBC-1420 Elite Dub Bass Cajon – Natural

The Pearl PBEDBC-1420 Elite Dub Bass Cajon is a professional percussion instrument designed to deliver an unusually deep low-end response while retaining the crisp attack expected from a snare cajon. Its body combines blended Meranti and White Teak with a blended Maple faceplate, giving the instrument a resonant wooden construction finished in natural clear lacquer.

Unlike conventional cajons with rear-facing sound holes, the Elite Dub Bass Cajon uses an internal sound chamber that directs low frequencies through built-in front-facing bass ports. Three sets of fixed snare wires positioned toward the top of the playing surface provide articulation and snap, complementing the focused bass response.

Front-Facing Dub Bass Port Design

One of the defining features of the PBEDBC-1420 is its front-ported acoustic design. The internal sound chamber channels low-frequency energy through the openings at the bottom front of the cajon, projecting the bass response toward the audience rather than primarily behind the player.

50/50 Maple Faceplate Construction

The blended Maple faceplate uses Pearl's distinctive 50/50 attachment method, with half of the faceplate screwed in place and half glued. Pearl developed this configuration to combine resonance with controlled construction rather than using a completely screwed or completely glued playing surface.

Three Fixed Snare Sets

Three sets of fixed snare wires are positioned at the top of the cajon to add a crisp attack to hand strokes. This gives players a clear contrast between the deep front-ported bass response and the sharper snare character higher on the faceplate.

Oversized Elite Series Construction

Measuring 20 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide and 16 inches deep, the PBEDBC-1420 is larger than many conventional box cajons. Pearl identifies the Elite Series as being built for professional players using premium materials and hand-built construction.
