The Stratocaster, affectionately known as the "Strat", has featured prominently in just about every musical genre ever invented since it's invention in 1954. The classic Stratocaster shape is probably the most emulated design of any instrument to date - when most people think of an electric guitar, the Strat usually comes to mind. The usual Strat setup sees three single coils doing all the work, with a 5-way selector giving players plenty of choice in the tone department. The list of renowned Stratocaster players goes on forever and includes legendary names like Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, John Frusciante, Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour. Getting your hands on a Stratocaster certainly won't do your playing any harm, plus you'll be in some very esteemed company!
