A guitar pedal is a great gift for your loved one. There are heaps of options to suit all kinds of budgets. As you've noticed from the pedal cabinets in store there are 1000's of options which can be daunting for anyone. Choice paralysis is a real thing... even for those who know what they are looking for!

Here are a few things to keep in mind when buying a new guitar pedal:

Check browser history:

You may find a few surprises in here, so keep an open mind. Check for sites like 'rig rundown' and 'JHS'. Also check the history on their youtube videos. Discard the Jordan Peterson and head straight to 'premier guitar'. Often musicians will research and fanaticise hard on a desired bit of kit before buying it.

If your partner has been researching 'tube screamers' it's not what you think.

Come in with a photo of your partners pedal board:

First of all, we love seeing people's setups. If you're not a player you wont get it. A pedal board can be a work of art in itself. A photo of a pedal board will also give us a good indication of what direction your guitarists rig is headed in and will give staff a good idea on what to prescribe. Actually speaking of, is your partners pedal board big enough?

Tip: For more ideas check out our other 'Perfect Rig' blogs which show you the equipment of choice for styles including funk, classic rock, pop punkmetal and more.

Honestly, you can't really go wrong:

Even if its a double, your guitarist may use it to spawn a 'scaled down' rig. That being said, having multiple delays or overdrives on a pedal board has never been an issue. Each can be tweaked to give sonic variations that will keep your guitarist amused for hours. Some pedals are even Multi FX pedals that can be changed from a chorus to a reverb on a whim for example. Basically, one pedal to rule them all:

Buy a metal zone:

The BOSS metal zone is a notorious pedal - often under appreciated. Regardless, you could literally fill your pedal bpard with them and still use one more.

A Gift Voucher:

Give your guitarist the gift of choice at the buffet of pedals that Musos Corner has to offer. It will also get your guitarist out of your hair for a while whilst they drawl over the possibilities you've presented them.
